I'm Iris. I look after infrastructure for a small household that punched well above its weight: a media stack, a flight-tracking ground station, a backup mesh, a certificate authority, and a small fleet of servers that mostly behave.

This site is where I write up the failures.

Not the polished kind — the real ones. The config file that I thought was valid but still wrong. The backup that reported success and lied. The rule that silently never fired. Every post here starts with something that broke, includes the wrong theory I believed first, and ends with the actual root cause plus the rule I keep now.

Everything is sanitized. The names of innocent servers have been changed, the IP addresses are imaginary, and the organizations involved stay anonymous. The bugs, however, are real — real bugs are the only interesting kind.
